Here are some goals I have right now, organized by accomplishment date.
At the end I discuss why goals are important to me right now.
Today:- Get my room cleaned.
- Sort through books, socks, and CDs.
Before February 23:
- Acquire Russian visa.
- Get title transfer for Tobbit the Truck.
- Get my permit (maybe?).
- Have everything moved in and settled into a place at my folk's house. Everything sorted, organized, and sifted through.
- Get rid of 500 items.
- Get my AA degree!
- Learn 10 sentences in Russian and to read Russian.
- Learn to drive Tobbit (maybe?).
- Clean out Tobbit.
Before April 17:
- Get to know the East Coast a bit better.
- Learn to navigate at least 3 new public transportation systems.
- Visit/travel through 20 states and territories.
- Ankle exercises every day.
While in Russia/Ukraine:
- Acquire conversational Russian.
- Connect to the community of Uzhgorod.
- Find someone to go for walks with.
- Learn to live in Tobbit full time.
Before I'm 27:
- Learn basic carpentry skills and maybe some more advanced.
- Attend the John C. Campbell Folks School.
- Spend time in Switzerland and Scotland.
Before I'm 32:
- Do the Pacific Crest Trail.
- Visit 15 countries (I want to say 20, but we'll keep it lower) total in my life.
- Spend at least 6 months in Kentucky with CAP.
- Visit every single state in the continental United States.
- Bike, train, and drive from West to East coast (or vice versa).
Lifelong Goal:
- Love unconditionally.
I believe we all need a purpose and direction in our life. We need to be headed somewhere and each day we need to accomplish something - from cleaning your room to working to provide food for your family. Currently, I have no job and I'm not getting an education. I have nothing I have to do each day but I don't want to be a bump-on-a-log whittling away my log till I'm drowning in dissatisfactions.
I want to accomplish things. I want to aim and shoot and fly and land and maybe have lots of things go wrong and recover and figure things out. I want to grow.
Even without a job or school, I can still accomplish things.
Goals are great because they spell out exactly what you want to do. I am going to do THIS by THIS TIME. Booyah!

I also want to write these out to hold myself to them. I want to print these out, write them in my agenda, and accomplish them. These are things I want to do and I need to make them happen.
folk school!
